Under the Volcano first opened their doors in 1974, on Colborne Street. It was in an old Victorian house with only one dining room. As the love for Mexican food grew, the restaurant moved to a bigger location. Mexican and Canadian breakfast is served 7 days a week. Along with our colorful Mexican dining room, we have a separate EXPRESS/ Take-Out for fresh, fast, tasty food to take home or be delivered. Our Chefs pride themselves in making meals from scratch daily. Our basic recipes are mildly spiced, but “erupting” with flavor!
We do NOT add any MSG, use zero trans fat oil for cooking and we specialize in fresh food! We cook our own chips daily, make our own salsa and slow roast our fajita beef. We do NOT add any preservatives or additives to any of our recipes. GLUTEN FREE, VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN MEALS is our specialty. Our goal is to provide our customers with quality food, exemplary service and to bring the delicious tastes of Mexico to you!
Kind Words From Amazing Guests!
Great for lunch and dinner and even better for breakfast. Under the volcano offers delicious option for breakfast. Some are breakfast burritos and skillets and the huevos rancheros. Eggs, potatoes and toast are a staple.
The coffee has a little cinnamon which is a nice change from the everyday Timmies. Good for kids, this place should be a go to for all those that want something a bit different than that of eggs and toast.
“Great City Landmark ”
The food here is never to disappoint. I recently used an amazing groupon to get half off take out. It was fresh, hot and traditional Mexican. Big portions. I do prefer the old location but glad this restaurant is still here after all these years.Laura P
“Gluten free friendly to the max! ”
I love this place. It’s always so exciting to find somewhere that offers gluten free friendly options and this place does it over and above what they need to. Most places do the bare minimum, but this place has so many options it’s almost hard to choose!! So filling, huge portions and reasonable price. Me and my boyfriend went and paid $50 with an alcoholic drink. The severs are super nice and we got right in.
Excellent food, very friendly staff, had a great time eating great food in a beautiful restaurant.Michael Babcock
